Using Statistical Regression Methoeds in Education Research
This web resource aims to teach statistical regression methods specifically for education research.
Benchmarking good practice in qualitative management research
This is a two year funded study, based in the UK, investigating the use and evaluation of qualitative research methods in management research. The project is part of a larger Research Methods Programme being funded by the ESRC (Economic & Social Research Council), which focuses specifically on extending and improving research methods in the research and practitioner communities
Inventing Adulthoods is a qualitative longitudinal study of young people growing up in five areas of England and Northern Ireland at the turn of the 21st century. Its rich biographical material, contributed by young people who were 11-17 years old at the start of the study, provides a unique window on most aspects of growing up during an important period of social change in the decade 1996 - 2006. Until recently, we had no plans for further interviews but continued to try and stay in touch with as many young people in the study as possible. From Spring 2005, we concentrated on the not-inconsiderable task of archiving this dataset so that other people can apply to access it and help realise its considerable potential for methodological and theoretical advance and for application to policy and practice. However, this changed in the summer of 2008 when Sheena McGrellis began a two year project (funded by the Joseph Rowntree Trust) that builds on our Northern Irish data and involves re-interviewing some of the young people for a seventh time.
Applied psychometrics:advancing quantitative methods in psychological assessment
New psychometric techniques are becoming increasingly important in test/scale development, evaluation and revision. As part of these efforts, this project aims to develop and deliver workshops on the theory behind psychometric techniques and the contexts in which applied psychometric research is relevant that will encourage researchers to access and exploit developments in statistical software packages that allow for basic and more advanced psychometric modelling.
Building Capacity in Visual Research Methods
The main aim of this project is to build visual method capacity across the social sciences. We are currently working with the resource authors to ReStore this web resource into ReStore web repository
