Description of page:

The screen consists of a number of different windows and a tool bar. There is a large 'Chat' window in which the dialogue is displayed, beneath this is a smaller window where users type their text, and press return, seconds later the contribution is displayed, prefixed with their name.

Chat window:

The chat window contains a record of the chat that is taking place. It shows the dialogue between the participants and the interviewers, as follows:

Participant 1: Yes, you can't describe giving birth until you have been there no matter how nuch researce you do

Participant 2: TRUE

Hen and Clare: So has joining BW made you feel like you are part of a virtual mother and toddler group? Have you made any friend ships through the website?

Participant 1: Not through BW but I have through another site

Participant 2: Yes - being at work full time, I don't get to meet many other mums.I haven't made any friends I've stuck with though, only for the duration of the question

Participant 1: The friendships you make on the net and at a todler group are different

Hen and Clare: Participant 1- did you make friends on anothe parenting site?

Participant 1: Yes

Hen and Clare: and in what way are friendships different from 'real life' ones?

Participant 1: On the net you talk more to the point about something as there are no distractions

Participant 2: All my friends on the net are people I knew before I got online, so I can't compare. I've chatted with other people btu not got in deep, as it were...

The other windows show who is online at the time, and contain the tool buttons, as follows:
