Managing Research Projects

Motivating the motivated

[c]
  • Research team leaders who also give attention to well motivated team members, not just unmotivated ones, will reap rewards.  Motivation will remain high and therefore so will achievement.
  • Remember, even the most motivated team members may experience times of de-motivation, so positive feedback/praise to these members will build their self esteem and re-establish/enhance their motivation.
  • Identify what motivates each member of the team, motivators will vary between people.  For example, recognition in any form and being able to achieve results are highest motivators, whilst less than good relations with project manager and other team members are high de-motivators.
