Maeve’s story is one of an achiever who has worked hard and followed a straightforward and predicted pathway through education to chosen career. She was consistently supported, emotionally and financially, by a close middle class family and enjoyed the social and cultural benefits of growing up within such an environment. She was popular and well known at school and in her home town. A resilient and practical young woman she was, however, strongly affected by the tragic death of two friends during her school days. The deaths brought some in her friendship group closer together, while it prompted others to drift apart. At school, she took on a leadership role and was involved in extra curricular activities. She also took a part time job for a short period, preferring to have her own source of income - but gave it up to concentrate on her school-work and exams. She enjoyed a busy social life, always enjoying the trust and security of close and committed friendships and maintaining a network of friends from her school days. She had long term-relationships at school and university and aimed to have her own family with a view to re-creating the family situation she grew up in. She remained very close to her parents, saw them on a regular basis but has established her own life in the university town she lived in.
