Edward grew up with his brother in a close middle class family where education was one of the top priorities. His family is quite self contained and they spend a lot of time together. A high achiever at A level he gained entry to one of the country's prestigious universities and completed his degree with little trouble, although had a period of despondency and low mood during his second year. His brother followed a similar educational pathway and although very close, the two enjoy a certain level of rivalry. Edward's niche interests helped to set him apart from mainstream popular youth culture, and through school years he was a bit of a loner. His social network is closely linked to his hobbies and interests, he retained little or no contact people from his school or home area. Edward had a couple of significant relationships at university, and valued the emotional support he gained from these. Having completed his degree he was unsure about the next education or career step and whether he had chosen the best degree option. His decision making was put on hold until after a volunteer work trip abroad.
