always set himself up as being a little bit different from the norm. At
school he was a diligent student and worked hard to achieve good grades
in his GCSEs and A levels. Whilst it was important to him to achieve
the grades, he valued the learning and educational process itself more.
He considered himself to be a bit of a thinker, a bit of a philosopher
and liked to debate ideas around politics and religion for example. An
ethos of education and learning existed within his family, whose roots
were respectable working class. He and his siblings were all encouraged
to pursue third level education. Danny went to university in England
and enjoyed a lively social life. He returned home at holiday time and
when he finished his degree, but found it difficult to settle into
family and local life. His ambition was to move back to England for
work and to pick up with friends from university. He would like to meet
someone for a long term ser ious relationship, and bemoans the fact
that this hasn’t happened for him as yet.
