AFRICAN

Coming originally from Africa with most of his siblings, Ato was fostered with a family until he was 18. He still saw his brothers and sisters quite frequently although they lived separately. A solid, passive and steady young man, he concentrated on doing various engineering courses and planned a career in some aspect of this. Although a quiet person, friendship was always important and he had an ethnically mixed group of friends that he saw regularly during his school years, and these relationships have been maintained for the years since leaving education. He worked steadily at his studies as well as taking part time work and saving his money, which made him used to being relatively independent. This stood him in good stead when at the age of 18 he moved out into a bed-sit of his own. Having been destined for life as some sort of engineer, he made a radical turnaround when he was offered and took work in a gentleman’s club in the centre of the city. It was ostensibly a temporary arrangement with a view to returning to engineering, but he was still working there several years later. At this point he was still seeing his old friends, and now also had a relatively long-term relationship. Although claiming he had not lost sight of returning to education, as time goes by this may recede even further.
